Dante´s Inferno.

Dante’s Inferno is presented as an action and adventure video game that was developed by Visceral Games, and reached the video game market in 2010 appearing as a publication by Electronic Arts.

This video game, whose plot has been freely inspired by the literary book The Divine Comedy, which was written by Dante Alighieri, reproduces the journey that Dante makes through the nine circles of Hell with the aim of recovering the soul of his beloved Beatrice, who She has been kidnapped by Lucifer. Throughout the journey, the player who plays the game faces fights with hordes of demons, solving puzzles and exploring nightmarish scenarios.

The setting of Dante’s Inferno is based on Dante Alighieri’s canonical description of Hell, although it transforms it into a gothic, dark, violent environment with a narrative much more focused on action and physical encounters. Each of the circles of Hell (Lust, Gluttony, Greed, etc.) is presented with a visual atmosphere and appropriate game mechanics that convey the sin that said atmosphere addresses.

The Dante of the video game corresponds to a drastic reinterpretation of the medieval poet. On this occasion we find Dante as a Templar knight, as a hardened warrior who has carried out atrocious acts such as, for example, murder or betrayal during the Crusades, which he believed would be redeemed by the religious acts of this Templar knight. During the course of his journey to Hell it also becomes a journey to rescue his beloved, but also a journey in which each of the guilty must face their sins.

As shown in the game, as a way to redesign this character, the objectives have been established to return Dante to the new framework of the gaming industry, thus creating a model for a fictional remake or a second chapter.
